 NOVA Fundraising

The National Organization of Vascular Anomalies is a 501c3a non-profit company operating in the state of North Carolina.  The organization is an all volunteer organization funded by private charitable contributions.  100% of the contributions received by NOVA go to the support services we provide to our patient contacts in accordance with our mission of providing assistance to individuals and their families in the management of hemangioma and vascular malformations.

The National Organization of Vascular Anomalies is a non-profit organization.  In April 1999 the Internal Revenue Service issued a dertermination letter that recognized NOVA as exept from federal income tax.  NOVA is exepmt undersection 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  NOVA is classified as a public charity under sections 509(a) (1) and 170 (b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Contributions to NOVA are tax dedcutible.  NOVA is qualified to receive tax dedcutible bequests, devises, and transfers of gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Internal Revenue Code.  Federal Identification Number 56-2054522

Third Party Fundraising:  Working as partners with our  patients and their families contributions are given to the organization.  Families have collected money through creative methods.  Bake Sales, letter drives and raffles. In keeping with good fiscal practices, the Board of Directors has developed guidelines pertaining to fund-raising events sponsored by individuals or organizations to benefit NOVA.  We request that all individuals or organizations wishing to host a fundraising event complete a Fundraising policy form.  Forms can be obtained by email at admin@mail.novanews.com

NOVA has the following fundraising programs

Good Search isa search engine powered by Yaho.  Users can log on at www.goodsearch.com instead of other search engines and each click earns money for the selected organization.  NOVA is registered as the National Organization of Vascular Anomalies.  We have been using goodsearch since 2006.  It is easy just click and money is donated to NOVA. 

Vascular Birthmark Support: Robin Houman founded the Vascular Birthmark Support fundraiser through a collaboration with members of the MSN hemangioma support site.  Robin designed sterling silver necklaces with a ruby stone.  The necklaces, bracelets and zipper pulls are available at www.vascular birhtmarksupport.com

Mission FishNova participates in the Points of Light Foundation program sponsored by eBay called Mission Fish.  Sellers on eBay can designate money from the sale of an item to a registered Non-profit organization.  NOVA is registered as The National Organization of Vascular Anomalies/NOVA/Hemangioma Newsline.  To participate in the program visit

PayPal:  As of January 2007 NOVA accepts donations through PayPal.  The email of register is admin@mail.novanews.org and we are entered as the National Organization of Vascular Anomalies.  NOVA asks that donations through paypal are at least $`100.00 due to processing.

Pins & Bracelets: Personalized Cause has produced pins and silicone bracelets to benefit NOVA. We have a page here on NOVA showing you samples of these products. http://www.novanews.org/AwarenessRibbons.html

These items can be purchased directly on their web site at www.personalizedcause.comThe bracelets are burgundy and have the imprint, "Know More".  The Pins are gold and burgundy and can be personalized. 

The Human Race:  5k TAC certified race sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Greensboro NC. www.volunteergso.org  2005 will mark the 7th year NOVA has been represented in the race.  We are currently looking for someone to coordinate the NOVA team this year.  Anyone interested in either coordinating the team or just wanting to walk/run in the race should notify Karla at admin@mail.novanews.org  The Race is held in March each year.  NOVA was unable to get a Human Race Coordinator for the 2006/07 Human Race in Greensboro.  We are disappointed that we will not be represented in the event.  NOVA was the first organization to ever raise $10K in this event and the achievement marked a milestone for the Volunteer Center of Greensboro.  If you are interested in bringing us back to the Human Race in 2008 please let us know.

**NOVA has participated in the Human Race under the name Hemangioma Newsline since 1997.
