Nina Goldman is the youngest of three children growing up in the town of Akron in Northern Ohio in the 1970's. Born with a large facial hemangioma Nina faces many challenges, she is so eager to just be "normal". This beautifully created character goes to great lengths to feel and be loved. Nina is the creation of Rene'e Rosn who knows personally what it is like to have a facial hemangioma.
Rene'e grew up in Akron Ohio, born with a facial hemangioma in the 1970's. She underwent experimental sclerosing agent injections, and was treated with the Argon and CO2 lasers. She created this novel because as a child she needed a book with a character like Nina Golman to see that she was not alone, that behind her birthmark was a loveable beautiful person. She needed to know that she would find a way to be happy, birthmark and all.
Rene'e Rosen has created a a wonderful character and family in Every Crooked Pot. She takes the reader into the inner thoughts of a young teenager with a facial hemangioma and her desire to look "normal" ridding herself of the her facial difference. The Goldman family is an example of the spirit of the American Family, our struggles, our heartaches and the love that keeps us going.
